The 27-year-old posed in blue jeans and a brown knit cardigan, leaving little to the imagination as she showcased underboob and cleavage against the wintery Manhattan backdrop.

“Rain rain go away,” Sweeney captioned the post, which also highlighted a small Miu Miu purse she appeared to be promoting.

The photos come in the wake of controversy surrounding paparazzi shots of Sweeney relaxing poolside at her Florida home.

The images, reportedly taken without her knowledge, quickly spread online and drew criticism from some social media users.

According to News.com.au, comments ranged from cruel jabs about her appearance to outright body shaming.

One user dismissed the actress as “an average chunky Yankee girl,” while another claimed she was “too pale” and needed to “lose a few pounds around the middle.”

Pretty bizarre considering that Sweeney is often regarded as one of the most beautiful women on the planet, right?

Well, fans were quick to comment on the new photos, with one person saying: “She broke the internet again.”

A second added: “I just choked on my bagel.”

Sweeney herself addressed previous backlash in a powerful video shared on social media.

The post began with a compilation of the derogatory comments she had received, followed by a montage of her intense training sessions for her upcoming role as real-life boxer Christy Martin.

The role, part of an untitled biopic, has required Sweeney to undergo a dramatic physical transformation, with rigorous strength training.

Fans flooded Sweeney’s comment section with messages of encouragement and admiration.

“Guess they drag you no matter what you do,” one fan wrote. Another added: “Girl, you look AMAZING. They all sound jealous.”

Other comments included: “They’re just not used to seeing a superhuman,” and: “Anyone who calls Sydney ‘average’ or a ‘butterface’ has me concerned about their eyesight. Like… are we looking at the same woman?”

Sweeney first announced her involvement in the biopic back in October after paparazzi photos revealed her in character. She later shared her enthusiasm for the project on Instagram, writing:

“Over the past few months, I’ve been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman – a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring. Her journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and hope, and I’m honored to step into her shoes to share her powerful story.”

The film, directed by David Michôd, tells the story of Christy Martin, a former WBC super welterweight champion known as “The Coal Miner’s Daughter”.

Martin, who debuted professionally in 1989, played a pivotal role in bringing women’s boxing into the mainstream.

Sweeney has been candid about dealing with public scrutiny. Speaking to Variety, she explained the unique pressures of fame:

“I see it, and I just can’t allow myself to have a reaction,” she said. “People feel connected and free to be able to speak about me in whatever way they want because they believe that I’ve signed my life away.

“That I’m not on a human level anymore, because I’m an actor.”
